One popular story behind Raksha Bandhan comes from the epic Mahabharata. It is said that once Shri Krishna injured his wrist with a weapon. Draupadi immediately tore a piece of cloth from her saree. She tied that torn piece of saree around Shri Krishna’s wrist. At that time, touched by this gesture, Shree Krishna promised Draupadi that he would always defend her. And she can call him whenever she needs his help. Later Shri Krishna fulfilled this promise by protecting Draupadi when Dushasan was stripping off her clothes in the sabha of Duryodhana.

  • Wake up early in the morning and sprinkle Gangajal all over the house.
  • After bathing, do puja and offer water to the Sun God.

  • On Raksha Bandhan, dedicate the Raksha Sutra to the Gods to complete the ritual. 
  • The Brother should face towards the East direction.
