In our previous blog, When will Kalki avatar be born?”, you read how Bhagavan Vishnu will take Kalki’s avatar in Ghor Kalyug and defeat Kali (Asura). However, some facts should have been mentioned in our previous blog. Moreover, this blog holds some deep secrets about Kali that have yet to be revealed. So, let us see the darker side of Kali purusha.

Who is Kali Purusha?

In Hindu mythology, Kali Purusha is a powerful asura and the grandson of Brahma. However, some scriptures mention Kali being born during the Samudra Manthan. Moreover, Kali is a pure evil being. He is present in all evil emotions, such as greed, violence, jealousy, anger, and lies. On the other hand, he is the ruler of the dark age known as Ghor Kalyuga. It will be the period of the future when these emotions will be at their peak. So, he will take control of the minds of people and misguide them from dharma.

When Will Kali Purusha Come to Earth?

Moreover, we are living in Kaliyuga, and Kali is still here. Kali is present in the form of energy. Furthermore, we have completed 5000 years of this yuga, and there are still 4,66,000 years left for Ghor Kalyuga to start. However, as per the predictions, Ghor Kalyuga will start with acid rain. Plus, there will be a sudden increase in crimes. Spirituality will decline, and people will start opposing God. During this time, Kali will take his physical form. He will capture their minds and use them as a shield against the Kalki Avatar.

Powers of Kali Purusha

Furthermore, Kali is a very powerful asura. You can estimate his powers by the fact that Kalki Avatar will require 7 immortals to defeat him. So, let us have a look at the powers of Kali Purusha.

  • Kali is not just a physical being.
  • He resides in evil emotions and thoughts.
  • He can control people.
  • Kali can take the form of a human.
  • He influences people towards negativity.
  • He does not create negative emotions; he increases the intensity of existing ones.
  • His presence leads to suffering, pain, grief, and sorrow.

Brahma Is the Ancestor of Kali ?

Most people do not know about Kali Purusha’s family. They know about the family of Kalki but do not know about Kali’s family. Moreover, Kalki Purana describes Kali as the descendant of Lord Brahma, the creator. This is confusing, isn’t it? How can such an evil entity be born from the creator himself? But this is the truth. Brahma is responsible for creation. And when something is created, its opposite is created, too. So, let us see how Kali became Brahma’s descendant.

The Family Tree of Kali Purusha

Moreover, one of the chapters of Kalki Puran describes Kali Purusha’s family tree.

  • Father: Krodha
  • Sister-turned wife: Himsa
  • Grandfather: Dambha
  • Grandmother: Maya
  • Great Grandfather: Adharma (Adharma is born from the dirt of Brahma’s back).
  • Great Grandmother: Mithya
  • Great Great Grandfather: Brahma
  • Son: Bhay and Narka
  • Daughter: Mrityu
  • Wife: Durukti

Is Duryodhana the Kali Purusha?

There is a famous saying, “History Repeats Itself”. That means things that happened before might happen in a similar way again. Similarly, a huge battle between good and evil is coming, just like the Kurukshetra War. It will be the biggest battle ever. This time, Duruyodhana will come as Kali to avenge Krishna, who will be born as Kalki.

Moreover, both of them are similar. For example, Kali is as cruel as Duryodhana. He is ambitious. His major principles are adharma, violence, and destruction.

Kali Purusha, a Perfect Version of Duryodhana

Although there are some similarities between them, Kali Purusha is the idealized version of Duryodhana. He is a more powerful, clever, angry, cunning, and extremely evil form of Duryodhana. In Kaliyuga, Kalki needs 7 Chiranjeevi to defeat Kali, making it clear that he will prove to be the worst threat ever to people. Additionally, he will not repeat the same mistakes as Duryodhana. Now, he does not make impulsive decisions that can go against him. However, there’s an untold story of King Parikshit and Kali, so let us understand what happened when Parikshit met Kali.

King Parikshit Allows Kali to Live in Kaliyuga

Furthermore, as per a story, King Parikshit was a righteous king. He is the grandson of great warrior Arjuna. Moreover, one day, when he went for a hunt in the forest, he saw Kali mistreating a bull. The bull was on his two legs only (it was the bull of dharma). So, he became angry and tried to kill Kali. However, Kali starts to beg for his life and asks for shelter in the kingdom of King Parikshit. At the same time, he refuses to allow him to reside in his kingdom as he knows that Kali could cause suffering. Hence, being a righteous king, he allows him five places where there is consumption of alcohol, prostitution, gambling, animal cruelty, and gold.

Kali Kills King Parikshit

Since the king allowed him to reside in gold, and his Mukut was also golden, Kali got inside his Mukut. As he was in his mukut, he was able to control the king. Then, he manipulates him to disturb the sage Shamika during his meditation. So, Parikshit asks him for water, but the sage is meditating, so he doesn’t respond. Then, Parikshit became angry and put a snake on the sage’s neck. So, he cursed Parikshit so that he would die of a snake bite. Later, the Naga king Takshaka kiKingking Parikshit.

Kali Purusha in Kaliyuga

After the death of Parikshit, Kali began his reign, which was Kaliyuga. This is the period in which you are living. Although Kali is showing his presence in this period everywhere, it is stilln’t powerful enough. Because people are still spiritual and believe in god, however, a darker age will come when Kali Purusha becomes the most powerful. This age will be the Ghor Kalyug. During this time, Kali will control people’s minds. In this age, humans will oppose gods, and spirituality and honesty will decline. Conspiracies, anger, lust, crime, jealousy, envy, and other evil emotions will be at their peak.

Symbolic Representation of Kali

Moreover, if you investigate Kali more, you will know that he is not a physical entity. He is a destructive force of Kaliyuga. He is the embodiment of negative energies. Unlike Ravan, Kali has no purpose; he is pure evil. However, Bhagavata Purana describes him as an ugly monster with a brown colour complexion. His mouth is that of a dog with huge fangs, green hair, and pointed ears. Also, he is wearing clothes and is like a king. He has a long tongue that stretches to his stomach. However, the question arises: Can Kalki defeat such a monster?

Can Kalki and 7 Chiranjeevi Defeat Kali?

Finally, this blog highlights Kali Purusha’s abilities, which show that it will be hard for Kalki to defeat him. You notice that in various yugas, Bhagavan Vishnu needed a companion to end his enemy. For example, Ram needed Lakshman, and Krishna needed Balram. Similarly, this time, Bhagavan Vishnu needs 7 Chiranjeevi to defeat Kali. This shows how big a threat Kali is, such that Kalki needs the help of 7 immortals. They will join forces with him against Kali.
