Not only Vishnu Ji, but Shankar Ji is also the Son of Shiv and Durga.

As per stories, Brahma Ji and Vishnu Ji started fighting on the subject of who is the originator and who is the father. Seeing this fight, Sadashiv came in between and placed a white radiant pillar between the two.  Then he himself appeared in the form of Shankar, thus telling them none of you is the creator.

Shiv Ji's words to both after the fight:

Shiv Ji tells in the Shiv Puran says that Oh my sons!  I have given you the task of production and maintenance in the world. Also, I have given you the task of destruction and death to Shankar and Rudra. Later, he says that he is known as Brahm in the Vedas, who has five mouths. From one mouth comes the word Akaar (Aa), from the second mouth, Ukaar (u), from the third mouth, Mukaar (ma), from the fourth mouth, Bindu (.), and from the fifth mouth, sound (shabd) have appeared. And so when these five words combine, the word Om is formed, which is the original mantra.
